Enterokinase:

  1. This is also called Enteropeptidase secreted from duodenal mucosa.
  2. It is a protease enzyme involved in the digestion of proteins.
  3. This enzyme acts as a catalytic enzyme that cleaves the acidic propeptide from trypsinogen to yield active trypsin.
  4. Hence it converts inactive trypsinogen to trypsin.
  5. This enzyme is also involved in the activation of the pancreatic digestive enzymes.
