Solution

Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH):

  1. Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) is the pituitary hormone that regulates growth, sexual development, and reproduction, including menstruation, follicular development, and ovulation.
  2. Releasing hormones from the hypothalamus controls gonadotrophs.
  3. Gonadotrophs release follicle-stimulating hormones.
  4. It is necessary for the growth of primary, secondary, and tertiary follicles.

The functions of FSH in males are:

  1. In males, FSH induces Sertoli cells to secrete inhibin, and it stimulates the formation of Sertoli -Sertoli tight junctions (zonula occludens)
  2. It stimulates sperm production in the testes
  3. It acts on sperm-producing cells.
  4. Nurse cells (Sertoli) release peptide hormone, which slows or prevents FSH production.
