Vacuoles:

  1. Vacuoles are the membrane-bound cell organelles present in the cytoplasm and filled with a watery fluid containing various substances.
  2. Plant cells have a single and a large central vacuole while Animal cells either lack vacuoles or if present are minute and less in number.

Functions of Vacoule:

  1. Vacuole helps in storage of salts, minerals, pigments and proteins within the cell.
  2. It isolates metabolic waste that might be harmful to the cell.
  3. It maintains turgor pressure.
  4. It facilitates endocytosis and exocytosis.
