Structure of sperm :

  1. The male reproductive system produces sperm that is manufactured in the seminiferous tubules within each testicle.
  2. Human sperm is divided into three parts :- Head, Middle piece and Tail.
  3. The head of the sperm consists of the DNA, which when combined with the egg's DNA, will make a new individual.
  4. The tip of the sperm head is called the acrosome, which enables the sperm to penetrate the egg.
  5. The mid-piece contains the mitochondria which supplies the energy the tail needs for the movement.
  6. The tail helps in moving back and forth to propel the sperm towards the egg.
  7. The size of mature human sperm lengths around 50-65 micrometers.
