  1. It is one of the digestive system organs located on the left side of the upper abdomen.
  2. The stomach receives food from the esophagus.
  3. The stomach produces stomach acid or hydrochloric acid which helps in digesting food.

The Stomach is made up of several tissues, which include,

  1. The mucosa is the inner lining of the stomach which contains smooth muscle fibers
  2. The submucosa contains dense connective tissue, blood vessels, lymph vessels, and nerve cells.
  3. Muscularis external layer contains smooth muscle fibers and serosa, Subserosa layers.
