  1. When the carboxylate functional group is removed by means of oxidation reaction, then the reaction is referred to as oxidative decarboxylation.
  2. During respiration in the plants, Oxidative decarboxylation occurs.
  3. It is a step involved in Kreb's cycle.
  4. As Kreb's cycle occurs in the matrix of mitochondria, Oxidative decarboxylation also occurs in the matrix of mitochondria.
  5. In Kreb's cycle, Pyruvate is converted to Acetyl CoA through oxidative decarboxylation.
