Protists: Two features of members of Protista are as follows:

  1. They can be either autotrophic or heterotrophic in nature.
  2. An autotrophic organism is capable of preparing its own food and surviving whereas a heterotrophic organism can derive nutrition from other organisms such as plants or animals in order to survive.
  3. Their cells possess a nucleus and membrane-bound organelles(eukaryotic organisms).
  4. All the unicellular organisms belong to protists.
