Question

1) Find the area of a rhombus whose side is 5 cm and whose altitude is 4.8 cm If one of its diagonal is 48 cm long. Find the length of the other diagonal.
2) The floor of a building consist of 3000 tiles which are rhombus shaped and each its diagonal are 45 cm and 30 cm in length. Find the total cost of polishing the floor in the cost per m2 is Rs. 4.

1) Area of rhombus =base × height =5×4.8=24cm2
Also area of rhombus =12d1d2
12(4.8)d2=24
d2=10cm

2)Area of one tile =12d1d2=12×45×30=13502=675cm2

Total area of tiles =675×3000=202500 cm2
=20.25m2

Cost =Rs. 202.5×4=Rs. 81.
