1.give one example for a compound with (a) an ionic bond (b) a covalent bond

Dear student

If the bonding is between a metal and a non-metal, it can be termed as ionic bond. eg: NaCl
And in the same way if the bonding is between two non-metals, it is known as covalent bond. eg: CH4, H2 etc.
