Solution

(1) (i) 75 × 88 + 75 × 12
= 75 × (88 + 12) (a × b + a × b = a × (b + c))
= 75 × 100
= 7500

(ii) 702 × 5 × 20
= 702 × 100 (a × b × c = a × (b × c))
= 70200

(2) (i) Each of the two rational numbers whose sum is zero is called the opposite number or additive inverse of the other.
(ii) Each of the two rational numbers whose product is 1 is called the multiplicative inverse of the other.
(iii) When any non-zero rational number is divided by itself, the quotient is 1
(iv) There are infinite rational numbers between any two rational numbers.
