X/3-y/12=19/4

Solved it by elimination of substitution

Open in App
Solution

X/6+y/15=4..
..multiply by 30

X/3-y/12=19/4....multiply by 12

These equation can be re-written as

5x + 2y = 120 ………..(1)

4x – y = 57 ………….(2)

Using elimination method,

5x + 2y = 120

(4x – y = 57 ) *2

We get,

5x + 2y = 120 ………(3)

8x – 2y = 114 ………(4)

Adding both the equation

We get,

13x = 234

X =

X = 18

Now putting the value of x in (1)

5*18 + 2y = 120

90 + 2y = 120

2y = 120-90

2y = 30

y = 30/2

= 15

So, x = 18 , y = 15 ans
