Molarity=nV(solution)

M1=nV1(solution) ...(1)

M2=nV2(solution) ...(2)

From (1) and (2)

M1M2=V2V1

substituting the values,

V2=2M×100ml0.5M

V2=400ml

Hence, V2V1=400ml100ml=300ml

Therefore, 300ml of water is added to the solution.
