Question

100 mL of 0.6 Macetic acid is shaken with 2 g activated carbon. The final concentration of the solution after adsorption is 0.5 M. What is the amount of acetic acid in gram adsorbed per gram of carbon

Open in App
Solution

Before adsorption concentration =0.6 M
After adsorption concentration =0.5 M
Volume of the solution =100 mL
milliequivalent of acetic acid adsorbed
=100×0.1=10
=10×60×103 g=0.6 g acetic acid
2 g activated carbon has adsorbed 0.6 g acetic acid 1 g will adsorb 0.3 g
