Question

2 equal masses separated by a distance d attract each other with a force F. If one unit mass is transferred from one of them to the other, what happens to the force?

Open in App
Solution

F = G m1*m2/d^2

one unit of mass is transferred from one to another

F = G* (m-1)(m+1)/d^2

F=G*m*m/d^2 - G *4/d^2

therefore the force decreases by 4/d^2
