Solution

Dear Student
Jaundice is known to be caused by an unknown pathogenic bacteria which seems to be gram negative. On the other hand penicillin is active against bacteria which are gram positive. It interferes with the cell wall formation in such bacteria. Thus penicillin is inactive against bacteria causing jaundice.

a) The pathogen that caused jaundice enters the body via consuming contaminated food and water.
b) Liver is the target organ for jaundice.
