Solution
Carbon monoxide is produced when an insufficient amount of oxygen is present for combustion.
For example, in a room where all the doors and windows are closed, burning of coal will deplete oxygen levels and when sufficient oxygen is not available, Carbon monoxide will be formed.
When a person in the room, breathes this oxygen-deficient air, more Carbon monoxide will reach his bloodstream through his lungs.
At high levels of Carbon monoxide, the damage will occur to vital organs like the brain and heart.
This will cause suffocation, dizziness, unconsciousness, and in some cases death of the person.
Therefore, it is advised not to sleep in a closed room where coal is burnt in chulhas.
