Steps of construction :

(1) Draw a line segment RD = 3.8 cm.
(2) Placing the protractor at vertex R on segment RD, draw XRD = 90°.
(3) Taking D as centre, draw an arc of radius 4.2 cm that intersects the ray XR at I.
(4) Join I and D.
The required ∆IRD is thus drawn.
