Question

Draw triangles according to the measures given below.

(1) In ∆ABC, m∠A = 90°, l (AB) = 3.8 cm, l (BC) = 4.2 cm.
(2) In ∆DEF, m∠E = 90°, l (EF) = 4 cm, l (DF) = 4.5 cm.
(3) In ∆PQR, m∠Q, 90°, l (QR) = 4 cm, l (PR) = 6 cm.

Solution

(1) Steps of construction of the given triangle are as follows:
(i) Draw a line segment AB = 3.8 cm.
(ii) Placing the protractor at vertex A on segment AB, draw ∠XAB = 90°.
(iii) Taking B as centre draw an arc of radius 4.2 cm that intersects the ray AX at C.
(iv) Join B and C.
Hence, we get the required ∆ABC.

(2) Steps of construction of the given triangle are as follows:
(i) Draw a line segment EF = 4 cm.
(ii) Placing the protractor at vertex E on segment EF, draw ∠XEF = 90°.
(iii) Taking F as centre draw an arc of radius 4.5 cm that intersects the ray EX at D.
(iv) Join D and F.
Hence, we get the required ∆DEF.

(3) Steps of construction of the given triangle are as follows:
(i) Draw a line segment QR = 4 cm.
(ii) Placing the protractor at vertex Q on segment QR, draw ∠XQR = 90°
(iii) Taking R as centre draw an arc of radius 6 cm that intersects the ray QX at P.
(iv) Join P and R.
Hence, we get the required ∆PQR.
