5000 kcal of energy is consumed by the primary consumer in a food chain. As per the 10% energy flow rule, x kcal of energy is consumed by the tertiary consumer. Coincidently, the body temperature of the tertiary consumer was also observed to be x C. What is its body temperature in kelvin?

The correct option is C 323 K
As per the 10% energy flow rule,
Secondary consumer will receive 10% energy received by the primary consumer. So, the secondary consumer received
10100 × 5000 i.e; 500 kcal of energy. Similarly the tertiary consumer received 50 kcal of energy. So, value of x is 50. Hence, the body temperature of the tertiary consumer is 50 C. And using the formula, K= C+273
we get,
body temperature in kelvin as, 323 K.
