The CMS Memorandum of Understanding on the Conservation of Migratory Birds of Prey (Raptors MOU) aims to promote internationally coordinated actions to achieve and maintain the favourable conservation status of migratory birds of prey throughout their range and to reverse their decline when and where appropriate.
The CMS or Bonn Convention, under the auspices of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), aims to conserve migratory species throughout their range.
India had become a party to the CMS since 1st November 1983.
