Solution

The given quadratic equation is 9x2 + 8 = 22x.
On subtracting 22x from both sides, we get:
9x2 – 22x + 8 = 0
On splitting the middle term –22x as – 18x – 4x, we get:
9x2 – 18x – 4x + 8 = 0
=> 9x(x – 2) – 4(x – 2) = 0
=> (x – 2) (9x – 4) = 0
We know that if the product of two numbers is zero then at least one of them must be zero.
Thus,
9x – 4 = 0 or x – 2 = 0
=> x =49 or x = 2
Therefore, the solution of the given equation is x = 49, 2
