Question

A 10m long iron pipe has an exterior radius of 30cm and interior radius of 20cm. Find the whole surface area of the pipe.

Open in App
Solution

The whole Surface Area of the pipe =2πRh+2πrh+2π(R2−r2)

Where The height is h=10m=1000cm
(1m=100cm)
R is the exterior radius=30cm
r is the interior radius= 20cm
So surface area of pipe =2πRh+2πrh+2π(R2−r2)=2×3.14×30×1000+2×3.14×20×1000+2×3.14×(30^2−20^2) =3,17,140 cm^2 or 31.71 m^2.
