A 2 cm tall object is placed perpendicular to the principal axis of a convex lens of focal length 10 cm. The distance of the object from the lens is 15 cm. Find the position and nature of the image.

Given
Object distance, u=15 cm
Focal length, f=+10 cm
Image distance, v=?

Using the lens formula,
1v1u=1f
1v115=1+10
1v=110115
1v=3230
1v=130
v=30 cm

Positive sign of v shows that the image is formed at a distance of 30 cm on the right side of the lens. Therefore, the image is real and inverted.
