A 5 kg block kept on a frictionless horizontal plane is being acted upon by a 10 N force as shown. Find the acceleration of the block.
2 m/

The block is restricted from moving in vertical direction as the ground prevents it from doing so and obviously it can't just rise-up simply just because of normal, by the ground. So taking horizontal as x-axis vertical as y-axis
∑Fy = 0
⇒ N - 5g = 0
N = 5g
Fx = 10N
There is a net external force in x-direction so there has to be acceleration.
2nd law
F = ma
⇒ 10 = 5 × a
a = 2 m/s2 in rightward direction
