(a) A piece of wire 1316 metre long broke into two pieces. One piece was 58 metre long. How long is the other piece?

(b) Sarita bought 15 metre of ribbon and Lalita 34 metre of ribbon. What is the total length of the ribbon they bought?

(a)
Total length of the wire = 1316The length of remaining piece of wire will be, =13165×28×2=13161016=131016=316

The length of remaining wire is 316 metres.

(b)
Total length of ribbon is,
=15+34=1×45×4+3×54×5=420+1520=1920
So the total length of the ribbon is 1920 metres.
