A ball is moving with of velocity 2 m/s towards a heavy wall, the wall is also moving with a speed of 1 m/s towards the ball as shown in fig. Assuming collision to be elastic, find the velocity of the ball immediately after the collision.

The correct option is D 4 m/s
Answer is C.
The speed of wall will not change after the collision. So. let v be the velocity of the ball after collision in the direction shown in figure. Since collision is elastic (e = 1),
separation speed = approach speed
or v - 1 = 2 + 1
or v = 4 m/s.
Hence, the velocity of the ball immediately after the collision is 4 m/s.
