Let s be the distance covered.

Initail velocity u=10m/s

Since acceleration due to gravity is opposite to the direction of motion.
acceleration a=g=10m/s2

At maximum height, velocity will be zero.
final velocity v=0

Using the equation of motion
v2=u2+2as
0=100+2×10×s
s=5m
