Question

A bicycle increases its velocity from 10km/h to 15km/h in 6 seconds. Calculate its acceleration.

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Given

Initial velocity = u = 10 km /hr =10×518=259 m/sec
Final velocity = v = 15 km / hr=15×518=256m/sec
Time = t = 6 sec
Let a is acceleration.

Step 2: Formula used
v = u + at (first equation of motion)

Step 3: Finding the acceleration

v = u + at

256 =259 +a*6

a = 0.22ms2
So acceleration is, a = 0.22 ms2 .
