Question

A body having a relative density of 0.5 will sink or float in water and why?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Relative density: The relative density of a substance is the ratio of its density to that of water.
    Relativedensity=Densityofthesubstancedensityofthewater
  2. If the relative density of a body is more than 1, then it will sink in water, but if the relative density is less than 1, then it will float in water.
  3. So, a body having a relative density of 0.5, will float in water.
