Relative density: The relative density of a substance is the ratio of its density to that of water.
$R e l a t i v e d e n s i t y = \frac{D e n s i t y o f t h e s u b s \tan c e}{d e n s i t y o f t h e w a t e r}$
If the relative density of a body is more than 1, then it will sink in water, but if the relative density is less than 1, then it will float in water.
So, a body having a relative density of 0.5, will float in water.
