Question

A body of mass 50kg has a momentum of 3000kgms-1. Calculate :
the kinetic energy of the body.

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Given data

Mass of a body, m=50Kg

Momentum ρ=3000Kgms-1

Step 2: Formula & solution

momentum=mass(m)×velocity(v)

Thus the velocity of the body will be v=ρm

substitute the given value in the above equation of velocity we get,

v=300050=60ms-1

Step 3: Kinetic Energy of the body

K.E=12mv2

Substitute the value in the above Kinetic energy equation we get,

K.E=12×50×602=25×60×60K.E=25×3600=90,000J

Hence the kinetic energy of the body is 90,000J.
