Solution

The correct option is C

12

Step 1: Find the effort E1 of the first boy,

For a single fixed pulley,

Load(L)=50kgf
Mechanical advantage (MA)=1
Since, we know that MA=Load(L)Effort(E)
Therefore, the effort applied is,

E1=LMA=50kgf1=50kgf

Step 2: Find the effort E2 of the second boy,

For a single movable pulley,
Load(L)=50kgf

Mechanical advantage (MA')=2

Therefore, the effort applied is,

E2=LMA'=50kgf2=25kgf

Step 3: Calculate the ratio of both the efforts,

The ratio of effort applied is E2:E1=50:25

On simplifying we get the ratio 1:2

The ratio of efforts applied by them is 12.

Therefore, the correct option is (C).
