Question

A bus starting from rest moves with a uniform acceleration of 0.1 ms-2 for 2 minutes. Find the distance traveled.

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Given data:

  1. The initial velocity (u) of the bus is zero as it starts from rest.
  2. The acceleration of the bus is 0.1 m/s2.
  3. Time taken by the bus is 2minutes=120s.

Step 2: Finding the distance traveled:

By using the 2nd equation of motion;

S=ut+12at2

Where, S is the distance traveled, u is initial velocity, a is a constant acceleration, and t is time.

S=0+12(0.1)(120)2S=720m

Hence, the distance traveled at the end of 2 minutes is 720 m.
