Question

A bus starts from rest and attains a speed of 54 km per hour in 10 seconds. What will be the acceleration of the train?

Open in App
Solution

Step 1:Given data:

  1. Initial velocity = u = 0 (starts from rest).
  2. Final velocity = v = 54km/h = 15m/s.
  3. Time = t = 10s.

Step 2:Finding the acceleration of the train:

We know from the first equation of motion,

v=u+at

Where u and v are the initial and final velocities, a is a constant acceleration, and t is time.

a=v-ut

Putting values of v, u, and t,

a=(15-0)10=1510=1.5m/s2

Therefore, the acceleration of the train is 1.5 m/s2.
