Time taken from $A$ to $B$ is $1.5 h r$
Distance between $A$ and $B$ is $40 \times 1.5 = 60 k m$
speed of car from $B$ to $C$ is $60 k m / h r$
Time taken from $B$ to $C$ is $2 h r$
Distance between $B$ and $C$ is $60 \times 2 = 120 k m$
Total distance is $60 + 120 = 180 k m$
Total time taken is $1.5 + 2 = 3.5 h r$
Average speed is $\frac{180}{3.5} = 51.43 k m / h r$
