Initial velocity $= 18 k m p h = 5 m s^{- 1}$

Retardation $= \frac{5 - 0}{5} m s^{- 2} = 1 m s^{- 2}$

Time $= 2 s$

Reduction in velocity $=$ $(r e t a r d a t i o n) \times (t i m e) = (1 \times 2) m s^{- 1} = 2 m s^{- 1}$
