A car is moving with a velocity of 40 m/s.The brakes are applied to retard it at a rate of 2m/s. What will be its velocity after 5 seconds of applying the brakes

Given: u= initial velocity= 40m/s

a= acceleration= -2m/s2
(- ve sign, because it is retardation)

t= 5s

from equation of motion

v= u+at

v= 40 + (-2)×5

v= 30m/s
