Question

A car starting from rest acquires a velocity of 36 kmh in 5 s .Calculate

(a) its acceleration .

(b) the distance covered by it .

Open in App
Solution

step 1;

Given that

Initially velocity = 0 .

Finally velocity = 36 kmh in ms is 36 ×518=10ms.

Time taken = 5 s.

Step 2:

Acceleration = changeinvelocitytimetaken=v-ut.

Distance = Velocity ×time .

Distance = s=ut+12×at2.

Step 3 :

(a) Acceleration = .changeinvelocitytimetaken=v-ut.

Acceleration =10-05=2ms2.

(b) Distance covered by it = Velocity ×time .

s=ut+12×at2.

s=0×5+12×2×52.

S=25m.

Step 4:

Hence, acceleration is 2ms2 and Distance covered = 25 m.
