Question

A car travels at a speed of 60 km/hr. Write the distance – time formula and draw the graph of it. Also, find the distance travelled by the car in 5 hours.

Open in App
Solution

Let us form a table that gives the distance and time travelled by bus.

From the above table, we observe that as x increases y also increases. Therefore, it is direct variation.

We get yx i.e.y = kx

k = yx, where k is constant proportionality

From the table, we find 601 = 1202 = 1803 = 60 = k

Plot the point (1,60), (2,120), (3,180) and join them.

x-axis 1 cm = 1 unit; y-axis 1 cm = 60 units

From the table, it is clear that in 5 hours, the car will travel 300km.
