A carnot engine absorbs 1000 J of heat from a reservoir at 127C and reject 600 J of heat during each cycle.
Calculate (a) The efficiency of engine
(b) The temperature of the sink
(c) The amount of the useful work done during each cycle.

Also, TH=127oC=127+273=400 K
(a) : Efficiency of engine η=1QLQH
η=16001000=0.4
Thus efficiency of engine is 40%.
(b) : Using TLTH=QLQH
TL400=6001000
TL=240 K
(c) : Amount of useful work done during each cycle W=QHQL
W=1000600=400 J
