Solution

The correct option is C hypertonic

A hypertonic solution is one which has an osmotic concentration higher than that of another solution. So exosmosis takes place in the cell. The movement of solvent molecules from inside of the cell to the outer is known as exosmosis. In this case, the cell sap has a concentration that is lower than the solution outside. This leads to the movement of water out of the cell and the cell shrinks due to hypertonic solution.

A hypotonic solution is a solution having osmotic concentration lower than that of another solution. When a cell is placed in such a solution, the movement of solvent occurs from the solution to the cell sap. This process is known as endosmosis.

An isotonic solution is a solution having the same osmotic concentration of another solution. There will be no movement of solvent into or out of the cell.
