Question

A cheetah can accelerate from rest at the speed of 4 m/s2

i. What will be the velocity attained by it in 100 s

ii. How far will it travel in this duration?

Open in App
Solution

Given,

Acceleration, a = 4 m/s² ;

Time(t) = 100 s

a) Initial velocity= 0 ; Final velocity= v

We know,
v = u + at
⇒ v = 0 + 4×100= 400 m/s

Hence the final velocity is 400 m/s

(b) Total displacement

We know,

s=ut+12at2

Putting all the values

s=0+12×4×(100)2

Therefore distance is 20000 m

So, the cheetah will travel 20000 m far with a velocity of 400 m/s in 100 s duration of time.
