Question

A cheetah starts from rest, and accelerates at 2 m/s2 for 10 secibds, Calculate :

(a) the final velocity

(b) the distance travelled.

Open in App
Solution

a)Initial speed = u= 0 m/s
Time = t =10 s
Acceleration = a= 2m/s2
Final velocity = V= ?
From FIRST equation of motion:
V= u+at
=0+2×10
=20m/s
b)From Second equation of motion:
S=ut+ 1/2at^2
=0xt+(1/2 )×2×10×10
=100m
Therefore, Final velocity=20m/s and DISTANCE travelled =100
