Solution

The mass of chlorine in metal chloride is given= 49.5%
Therefore the mass of metal= (100-49.5) = 50.5
The equalent mass of metal is given by the formula:
massofmetalmassofchlorine×35.5
50.549.5×35.5=36.21

According to dulong pettits law:
atomic mass of metal=6.4specificheat

= 6.40.056×114.3

= atomicmassequivalentmass

= 114.336.21=3.1g

Hence, 3.1g is the answer. The mass of chlorine in metal chloride is given= 49.5%
therefore the mass of metal= (100-49.5) = 50.5

The equivalent mass of metal is given by the formula:

= massofmetalmassofchlorine×35.5

=50.549.5×35.5=36.21

According to dulong pettits law:

atomic mass of metal=6.4specificheat

= 6.40.056×114.3

= atomicmassequivalentmass

= 114.336.21=3.1g

Hence, 3.1g is the answer.
