Question

A conducting current -carrying plane is placed in an external uniform magnetic field. As a result, the magnetic field. As a result, the magnetic induction becomes equal to B1 on one side of the plane and B2 on the other side. If the magnetic force acting per unit area of the plane is Fl1l2=B12B22xμ0. Find x.

Solution

Let external magnetic field is B and B0 is the magnetic field due to plane.
Then B1=B+B0;B2=BB0
Where B0=μ0I2
Solving we get B=B1+B22,B0=B1B22
Force on plane F=B(Jl1)l2
Force per unit area:
Fl1l2=BJ=B1+B22(2B0μ0)=B12B222μ0
