Question

A conductivity cell filled with 0.01M KCl gives at 25oC the resistance of 604 ohms. The conductivity of KCl at 25oC is 0.00141Ω1cm1. The same cell filled with 0.001M AgNO3 gives a resistance of 6529 ohms. Calculate the molar conductivity of 0.001M AgNO3 solution at 25oC

Open in App
Solution

We know, K=K×1/R
(KCl)K1R1=K2R2(AgNO3)
0.00141×604=K2×6529
K2=1.30×104r1cm1
molar conductivity, λm=KC×1000
=1.30×1040.001×1000
=0.13×1000
=130Scm2mol1
