Question

A conductivity cell filled with 0.01M KCl gives at 25oC the resistance of 604 ohms. The conductivity of KCl at 25oC is 0.00141Ω1cm1. The same cell filled with 0.001M AgNO3 gives a resistance of 6529 ohms. Calculate the molar conductivity of 0.001M AgNO3 solution at 25oC.

Solution

Cell constant(K) would be same for both cell as the both cells are same,
For 1st cell-
λ=1000×KM or K=λ×M1000=1.41×108
Put the value of K for the 2nd cell-
So λM=1000×KM=103×1.41×108103=1.41×102
