Question

A cow is tied with a rope of length 14 m at the corner of a rectangular field of dimensions 20 m ×16 m find the area of the field in which the cow can graze?

Open in App
Solution

Area that cow can graze will be one fourth the area of the circle with radius 14m.
Area of the ground which cow can graze = (pi x r^2)/4 = (22/7*14*14)/4 = 22*2*14/4 = 11*14 = 154 sq m.
Area of the rectangle = 20x16 = 320 sq m
Area left ungrazed = 320 - 154 = 174 sq m.
