Given, volume $V=480{\text{cm}}^3$

Volume of cuboid $=LBH$

$LBH=480{\text{cm}}^3$

$h=\frac{480}{12\times 8}\text{cm}=5\text{cm}$

Hence, the vessel should be $5\text{cm}$ high.
