Arranging the data in ascending order 1, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
Here, the number of observations is 10, which is even.

So, median= $\frac{(\frac{n}{2} t h o b s e r v a t i o n + (\frac{n}{2} + 1) t h o b s e r v a t i o n)}{2}$

$= \frac{(\frac{10}{2} t h o b s e r v a t i o n + (\frac{10}{2} + 1) t h o b s e r v a t i o n)}{2}$

$= \frac{5 t h o b s e r v a t i o n + 6 t h o b s e r v a t i o n}{2} = \frac{4 + 5}{2} = \frac{9}{2} = 4.5$
