A force of $72$ dyne is inclined to the horizontal at an angle of ${60}^o$. Find the acceleration it produces in a mass of $9g$ which moves in a horizontal direction.

Components of force along horizontal,

$F_x$ = F cos 60

= 72 $\times \frac{1}{2}$

= 36 dyne

Using,

$F_x$ = m$a_x$

we get,

$a_x$ = $\frac{F_x}{m}=\frac{36}{9}$

= 4 cm$s^{-2}$
